All the Love | VIDEO | Natalie Elphinstone

Valentines Day is fast approaching and I love that Neat and Tangled had the forethought to release some romantic-themed sets in January so that you can already be making your projects ahead of time!

Today I'm using the Love Notes Die Set to create a simple (but totally cute) card that not only would be perfect for Valentines Day, but generic enough to be used for your loved ones on many other occasions as well.

But remember.... easy doesn't have to mean boring and I love all the texture this card has! Today in my video I want to give you some tips on how to really expand your thinking when it comes to using your die sets so that you can make the most of what you already have.

I'll also share my tried and true method of how to achieve the perfect placement for your sequins! I'm using the Bubble Gum Sequin Mix here and I can already tell this is one sequin mix that is fast going to run out. I want to scatter these everywhere! I'm such a sucker for the pink.

I hope that you enjoy my very first video for Neat and Tangled and that you'll come back time and time again! I'll be posting again before Valentine's Day so I'll save all my good wishes for the occasion for then ;-)

Donut Mind....

Happy Friday!  Sadly we are saying goodbye to this month's Guest Designer Stephanie Klauck today.  She's given us the sweetest eye candy on Fridays this month and today's post is no exception.  Check it out:

Hi everyone, it's Stephanie here with my last card to share as the January guest designer. I have had so much fun sharing my cards this month... thank you so much for all of the sweet comments!

For my card today I used the Say Yes to Donuts stamp set and the Classic Tag and created a fun card design with some of the images from the stamp set. I stamped, coloured and cut out the girl in the donut and the other girl who is meant to peek over the donut.

I diecut the tag from white cardstock and added some blue colour to the background with distress ink and then I stamped the sentiment with black ink. Once I had the sentiment stamped, I adhered the girl in the donut to the center of the tag and then I added the tag to a grey card base with a strip of black and white patterned paper under it.

And then rather than having the second girl image peek over the donut, I put her at the top of the tag and weaved the twine from the tag through her arms so it looks like she's holding it.

I love how cute it looks with her up on the top of the tag.

Thank you for joining me on the Neat and Tangled blog today!

Nutty Little Valentine | VIDEO | Emily Leiphart

I'm so excited to be sharing this squirrelly Valentine's Day card using the My Favorite Nut stamp set and coordinating dies! I also used the Parquet Stencil to create the cityscape on the main panel. Here's how it all came together:

All of the images were stamped with black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I watercoloured the images with distress inks. The background was also created with distress inks. I used the same greens on the acorns to splatter the background.

I used multi-medium matte to shape the balloon string. The knot was adhered to the acorn using a micro glue dot and the tail was adhered to the background panel using multi-medium matte. All of the images were adhered to the card base using foam tape.

Trifold and Window Cards with Daria.

Hi Dears,
Daria here.

I just can't get enough of our latest release. The Floral Heart wreath is so beautiful and versatile. So, I was planning to make a set of three smaller sized square valentine card... But, while I was playing at my craft table, I though that coordinating dies for the Floral Heart are just perfect for trifold card.

That's what I came up with.

To make this card:
1. I took a panel of 3 3/4  by 11 inches.
2. Scored it at 3 3/4, fold it, and scored again where the fold ended.
3. Cut the excess. I think it is the easiest way to make it (at least easier than calculate each and every mark)
4. Then, I die-cut the front panel with the biggest die.
5. Closed the card base and stamped the wreath on a second panel (through the first one)
6. Die-cut the inner heart from the stamped wreath.
7. Decorate the inside and stamp the sentiment.

I hope, it is clear how to make it, as it is really easy and fast, while giving you a very interesting design :)

Of course, while I was creating, I couldn't resist using an adorable squirrel from new My Favorite Nut set.  I made a square card (3 3/4 inches each side). I also die-cut window at the front of my card base using the bigger die from Floral Heard dies. Then I embossed it with embossing folder and adhered black and white Floral Heart on top, using foam tape.

I put a little squirrel and sentiment inside :)

Hope you liked this ideas and will give them a try :)

Hugs,
Daria.

Please be mine card with Sveta

Hello dear friends!

Are you ready for St.Valentine’s Day? I’m not a big fan of this holiday but think that it’s cute to celebrate with love notes!

Today I will share with you this year’s first Valentine card of mine. I can’t stand out of our cutest ever My Favorite Nut stamp set and combined a little squirrel with beautiful heart shaped wreath from Floral Heart stamp set.

I used Tombow dual brush pens for coloring and it’s the easiest way for me to color. You won’t spent much time of such kind of a card using coordinating My Favorite Nut and Floral Heart nice and neat dies sets.

I used foam adhesive and put the composition in the center of a card adding sweet little sentiment beneath it.

Hope you liked today’s card and thanks so much for your attention!

Wishing love, Sveta.

I Go Nuts for You!

Hi there! It's Cheiron here with my first blog post. I just love the My Favorite Nut set from the most recent release and I love combining new sets with products I already have.

What would be a better Valentine for these adorable little squirrels that an entire BOX of nuts???

I die cut a bunch of the acorns and cut a box from the box die and just filled it on up.

Some of the nuts were just glued right into the box and the others with layered with some foam tape to give it a dimensional look. Once they were all fastened in, I gave them a quick touch of shine with a Wink of Stella pen. Hope you enjoyed this very special squirrel Valentine!

Thanks for stopping by!

More than Coffee

It's Friday and out January guest designer Stephanie Klauck is back!  She created a video to share with us today too!  Here's Stephanie:

Hi everyone, it's Stephanie here with another card to share. For today's card I wanted to do a little watercolouring and I thought the Perfect Blend stamp set would work great for the idea I had.

So I stamped out a bunch of the coffee cups from the stamp set onto watercolour paper using Versafine ink and then I added colour to all of them using watercolours and a #0 round watercolour brush.

Once I had them all painted, I let them dry and created a watercolour wash for the background on another cardstock panel. I cut out the coffee cups using my scissors once they were dry and then I adhered them in a stack on the background I created. I love the messy watercolour on the cups against the background I created.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a strip of watercolour paper so it would match with the background panel and then I trimmed it out. I used foam tape to adhere it to my card, just under the stack of cups.

To finish the card I added some clear sequins and then adhered the panel to a top-folding grey card base.
You can see how I created the card in the video below:

Thanks for joining me on the blog today! I'll be back next week with one more card to share.

Nuts About You with Alphabet Dies

Hello there! It's Keeway here today and I wanted share a card using negative space die cuts and alphabet dies.

Often times we're left with tons of scraps from die cutting, so why not make use of them and make more cards! First off, I used the Journal Alphas dies to create my sentiment 'Nuts About You'. I didn't bother putting back some of the inside pieces, as it gives it a bit of modern look. I then sized down the card stock to a size just 0.5" less than A2 on each side. I had this left alignment look in my mind. Then, I sprinkled on some white acrylic paint splatter for a little extra texture to the colored card stock.

Next, I stamped and colored the squirrels from My Favorite Nut and die cut my images out with coordinating dies. I first adhered my negative die cut panel over an A2 base with foam tape, aligned to the top left. Then I arranged my squirrels around and within the sentiment with foam tape as well.

So if you ever want to make use of your scraps to make a second card after die cutting out a sentiment, hope today's card gives you some inspiration!

Please be Mine | Nancy Damiano

Hey there! It's Nancy with my first blog post here at Neat and Tangled. Let's make something special with from the Nuts for You stamp set and combine it with the Punchinella die to create a background.

I started by stamping the squirrels in my favorite blank ink and coloring them in with Copics. The shape was cut with the matching Nuts for You die. I then used the Punchinella die to create a background in white. The ombre effect behind the die was created with Distress Inks in three shades of pink and purple.  I hand cut a gray flag to ground the stamped image.

Here's a look at another card using a similar design. The Floral Heart stamp and die set were used to create this image. Similar to the Please be Mine card above, the Punchinella die was once again used to create a pretty background. This time color was added with a few Bubble Gum sequins. A gray flag ties the entire design together with a sentiment from the Calathea stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I'll see you next month with more card inspiration.

Masculine Birthday Card | Stephanie

Hey everyone! Stephanie here and I am SO EXCITED to be here for my first post
on the Neat & Tangled blog!

I put together a masculine birthday card for you today because honestly, I find them the absolute hardest cards for me to make haha. I am terribly feminine in my creations which typically suits me well but when it comes time for me to give a card to a "manly man" (aka my gigantically bearded husband) I almost never have anything on hand. So here is what I came up with!

I started by creating the wreath and hooray sentiment using the Hooray Die. I die cut it twice - once from green cardstock and once from blue cardstock - and then I trimmed the wreath away from the  blue one. I layered them on top of each other with some adhesive and lined the back of the wreath with a bit of vellum.

I used the Succulent Journaling Die to create a journaling card which I repeatedly stamped with the wood stamp from the On the Strip 2 set. I'm going for earthy here can you tell lol? ;) And for my card base I stamped a light colored ink with the "celebrate" sentiment from the Just For You set

I finished my card off with some stitching at the top of the journaling card and I just couldn't help myself and added some sequins as well haha. I made sure to use simple iridescent ones (that I grabbed from the new Sugar Plum set) to not be too girly.

What do you think? Do you have trouble creating masculine cards?
Thank you so much all! Much love!

Xo, Stephanie

Stamp Highlighting: Floral Heart with Kelly Latevola

Hello Crafters!

It's Kelly here and I'm so excited to be sharing my first post for Neat and Tangled!

Please join me in a small parade in which we will throw confetti and dance around in a little circle.

Exciting huh?
That was the most exercise I've had all week :/

Speaking of exciting during release week Daria shared this adorable card where she stamped the floral heart multiple times and then popped her sentiment with a gorgeous color and some glitter.

I loved layout so much. I thought it would be a great way to really highlight one stamp so that's what I did today.

I love the way stamping in the lighter inks really makes the focal point special.

You can see the entire card from start to finish in the video below
This is actually a pretty sure video for me I'm a little proud of myself ha!

I can't believe how much adding those final details really changes the look of the card. I know sometimes it seems like an unnecessary step but give it a try sometime :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today to visit me today!

xoxo
Kelly
