Design Team Reunion: Amy Tsuruta

Hello everyone!  It's Amy Tsuruta here and thrilled to be celebrating Neat & Tangled's 5th Birthday!  I've been having so much fun following the Design Team Reunion and I'm grateful to be a part of it.

A little about my Neat & Tangled background....I started on the Little Tangles team in June 2013.  I hopped to the Neat and Tangled Design Team and happily worked there from April of 2014 - December 2016.   I consider myself fortunate to have been able to spend so many years with the Neat and Tangled family.  I'm so happy for Danielle and all that she has been able to achieve and look forward to seeing things continue to grow for her.

I was thrilled to work with some of the new release which I combined with some of my favorites:

The Hooray Word - Nice and Neat die is awesome, isn't it?  I decided to cut it in black and white.  I designed a blue two tone panel in Distress Oxides that have been cut with a Scalloped Nice and Neat Die.  I thought the mermaid from Mermazing was perfect with the Hooray sentiment.  She's been adhered with foam squares.

I'm sad that you can't really see the All The Sprinkles stamped image on my panel.  I heat embossed it with a very glittery embossing powder so in real life, it's pretty specularly sparkly.

TIP:  The On Point Glue is perfect for those smaller die cuts that you want to adhere.

That's it for me!  A big shout out to Danielle and her awesome Design Team, past and present!

Design Team Reunion: Nina Yang

Hello everyone! It’s Nina Yang here! I was lucky to join Neat and Tangled design team for a year about 5 years ago! Danielle is one of the sweetest person I’ve met and she has some of the most creative ideas in the industry! I’m delighted to join the celebration with a card I made from the new Wild Ones stamp set and Wild Ones – Nice and Neat Dies!
It’s the giraffe’s birthday and she's hosting a disco party! The monkey is swinging by with his gifts! The new Like Magic Sequin Mix is perfect for making a disco ball for the party scene! So sparkly and fun! I bended the sentiment strip a little for some dimension and movement on my card. All elements are colored with Copic markers.

Thanks Neat and Tangled again for having me!

Happy Birthday!

Hugs,
Nina

Celebrate Getting Through It with Open Box Die

Hey everyone!  I'm excited to have the chance to share with you during Neat & Tangled's birthday month.

I've been having all sorts of fun with my new Open Box die.  Today I thought I would showcase a very simple way to use/close it.

To assemble the box die, I use micro or mini dots.  If I keep the box open, I'll attach the little tabs on the outside of the box since they are kind of hidden, like  this:

If I am going to have the box closed, like in this card, I want a neater look on the outside, so I adhere the little flaps on the inside of the box.

In a previous card I tied the box closed, but tying perfect bows can be tricky, especially when it's a little box.

So for this card, I closed the box the easy way, kind of like when you're packing real boxes, by overlapping the flaps and tucking one side of the last flap under the first flap.

It's super easy and quick!

I wanted to make a more masculine card, and I thought about tucking some money in there like Heather Hoffman did on this card, but I ended up using a bit of flair that I had in my stash from BossyJoscie instead.

The sentiments are form the Celebrate stamp set.

Really simple, but a fun way to send some encouragement.  Thanks for visiting!

Design Team Reunion: Katie Gehring

Katie Gehring here!  I am so excited to be here today to help celebrate Neat and Tangled’s 5th birthday!! I have a couple festive cards to share with you featuring the Wild Ones stamp set  and matching Nice and Neat dies.
My first card highlights the darling monkey and balloon image.  I die cut a panel of white card stock with the Scalloped Nice and Neat dies .  I used the Balloon Duo Stencil and Distress Oxide ink to create the balloon background. I stamped and die cut the monkey from the Wild Ones stamp set before coloring the image with Copic markers. The “Celebrate” sentiment is from the Just for You stamp set and a few Crystal Clear Mix sequins to add a finishing touch.
For my second card, I used the Giraffe and bird from the Wild Ones stamp set.  I again pulled out the Scalloped Nice and Neat dies and used the middle sized rectangle to cut a scallop background .  I stamped lots of the confetti images with red, yellow, and orange ink.  I stamped the sentiment, adhered the stamped and die cut images and affixed all the elements to a teal note card.
Here’s a look at both cards together.  I am so happy to have a couple of wildly fun cards all ready for the next celebration!

I hope that you enjoyed the cards I shared today. Big thanks and hugs to Danielle for having me back for this reunion!  Happy Birthday, Neat and Tangled!  Here’s to many more years of clever designs, cutie cute images, fun sequin mixes, and non stop inspiration!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Design Team Reunion: Linda Trace

Hey there crafty friends!

Linda here, and I’m and so excited to be a part of this special blog hop celebration!! I still remember the Skype conversation where Danielle nervously announced to me and a few close friends, that she was starting a stamp company. Without a moment’s hesitation we all broke into exclamations of excitement and support, and I know we all were and still are SO proud of Danielle for being brave enough to begin this new chapter in her life, and how far she’s come.

For my card I really wanted to let the images be the stars of the show, so I coloured them in with my brand spankin new Polychromos Pencils (hello dreamy!), then cut them all out using the coordinating dies, and compiled them into a little cluster-scene.  I decided to add some white gel pen details to the images for some extra interest—I’m kinda in love with the furry chest on the monkey and giraffe.

For a final touch I added a splash of white spray ink on the base notecard, a little black Enamel Accents for the eyes, and some glossy accents to the balloon.

I hope you like it and are enjoying the amazing cards being made this month!

Happy Anniversary/braveaversary Danielle and thank you so much for having me!

Together with Wilna Furstenberg

Happy Friday!  Our guest designer for this month, Wilna Furstenberg, is back sharing another beautiful layout with us this week.  We are just loving the lightness and texture of her work and we think you will too.  Here she is with all the details:

Hi there! Wilna here for the second layout I created for Neat and Tangled!

I used the “Together” stamps and I stamped the title on a transparency and fuzzy cut it out.

I also stamped some phrases on plain paper and made little “ribbons” out of it. I love word stamps again for the text and texture.

Watch the little video where I show you the quick technique to make a background to your page. The flower illustration is from a little Art Journaling Class I have available on iheartstudio.ca called Art Journal Series 1.

Thanks for watching!

And a big thanks to Wilna for being our guest this month.  To see more from Wilna, be sure to follow her on her social media channels here:

Design Team Reunion: Emily Leiphart

Hi, everyone! It's been a while since I last blogged but when Danielle asked me to join the Neat & Tangled design team reunion, I couldn't refuse! I spent two amazing years working for Danielle and loved the products she designed, along with Miriam Prantner and Elena Roussakis, so I fittingly used products designed by all three super talented ladies on my trio of cards today.

First, I stamped, watercoloured and die cut the cute little monkey and birthday hat from Wild Ones. While those dried, I used the Balloon Duo Stencil to create backgrounds for the monkeys. I splattered the balloons with shimmer spray and set the panels aside to dry.

Next, I split a sentiment from Happiest Birthday, another Neat & Tangled anniversary set, as well as Journaling Numbers dies to create the custom sentiments. The 'th' is from the sentiment 'throw kindness around like confetti', which I masked and stamped next to the number six.

The glittery numbers were adhered to fun foam to make them pop and my Xyron sticker maker made it very easy to attach the layers together and to the panel itself.

To finish, I cut out coordinating patterned paper panels from a retired paper pad and adhered them to the card base before attaching the stencilled panels asymmetrically.

In the close-up photos below, you can see the effect of the shimmer spray on the balloons. The shimmer acts the same way water does on distress inks, except it leaves shimmer behind which I love!

All images and sentiments were stamped with Versafine pigment ink and clear embossed for added visual interest and easy colouring.

I have three neighbours turning six in the next couple of weeks and, luckily, I had the perfect products for the upcoming celebrations! ;) It's been a pleasure being back on the Neat & Tangled blog for the reunion and I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Design Team Reunion: Pamela Ho

Good morning everyone! This is Pamela here and I'm so excited to be participating in this huge celebration for Neat & Tangled! Danielle was so generous (and daring!) to bring me onboard for their design team, and I debuted my first stamp design here as well! I have a fun and simple card to share with you today. Afterall, my signature design was "simple" back in the good ol' days!

  N&T - 5th Birthday - 1
I stamped the adorable little turtle from Wild Ones and paired it with the sentiment from Hooray. Gotta love Danielle's bold sentiments! N&T - 5th Birthday - 2
And of course, it's not a celebration without sequins! I sprinkled the Like Magic Sequin Mix around the little turtle for a true birthday celebration! Thanks for stopping by!

Design Team Reunion: Heather Hoffman

Good morning! Heather Hoffman here - and I'm super excited to be guesting on the Neat and Tangled blog today to help celebrate Neat and Tangled's 5th Birthday! I spent a brief bit of time on the N & T Design Team a few years back, and also spent a year on the Little Tangles Design Team - so many fond memories, and love watching each new release come out.

I actually have TWO cards to share with you today - and in the past week I've even shared a couple more if you want to check them out!

I just can't get enough of the darling giraffe from the new Wild Ones stamp set - and it pairs so perfectly on this card with the previously released Floral Heart! I colored them both up with Copics and die cut each one with their coordinating dies.

I added a strip of pattern paper on the bottom of my card base, and blended some distress ink across the top - splattering with water and white paint for texture. Mounted the wreath and giraffe with foam adhesive, and stamped a sentiment from Kindness Matters (I'm pretty sure it was my first ever Neat and Tangled set - and I still have it, obviously, because it is still so relevant!)

Next up, I had played a little with the new Open Box Die - but when I saw what Miriam Prantner's - the die designer - created HERE, I knew just what I wanted to make with it!

I die cut it from kraft paper, layered some pattern paper, and heat embossed a sentiment from Out of the Box on a strip of black cardstock. Then...I tucked something inside and tied it closed!

Untie the string...

...and TADA!!! Isn't this a perfect way to tuck a little cash inside as a gift?

If you are wondering about anything I used on these cards, you can find links to them all below! Thanks so much for stopping by today - and CONGRATULATIONS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Neat and Tangled!!!

Design Team Reunion: Francine Vuilleme

Hi everyone! Francine Vuillème here! I’m so excited to join the birthday celebration and the design team reunion! What a wonderful idea! I was a DT member in 2016 and I still remember how happy and excited I was to join the team!

Thanks so much Danielle for having me for this celebration and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are such a kind and beautiful woman (inside and out). I’m proud to be part of the N&T family and I’m honored to guest for you today! Good luck for the next years of this fabulous crafty adventure!

For this event, I created this card:

I used the pirate set called Yo Ho Ho. I love all characters in this set and I thought the flag would be perfect for a birthday sentiment. I masked the pirate skull on the flag and I then stamped the Happy Birthday text that I found in the Beach Day set. I colored the pirate and cut him out with scissors. I added jeans texture to the pants using a piece of fabric. I sponged the front panel of a top-folded card base with yellow Distress ink using a blending tool. I adhered the image with foam pads to the card base as well as a sandy hill that I die cut from Kraft cardstock. I glued tiny stars and sequins here and there for a festive look. To finish off my card, I added Wink of Stella clear shimmer over the rainbow sweater.

I hope you enjoyed this project! Have wonderful day and happy crafting!

Design Team Reunion: Jocelyn Olson

Hi everyone! When Danielle asked me to join the Neat & Tangled DT reunion, I had to come out of blog retirement to join the fun. I loved my time on Neat & Tangled! Danielle is such a talented, sweet, and thoughtful person. Last month, Miriam Prantner and I got together, and Danielle sent stamps and dies with her to give to me. Even though I haven't been sharing projects on social media, Danielle sent them anyway--just because. She is a generous and kind person...the kind of stamp company owner I love to support. :)

In the spirit of fall and thankfulness, I decided to make a fall-themed card:

The patterned paper is graphic, and I wanted to play off of the angles. I die-cut the Maple Thanks die twice out of white woodgrain cardstock. These dies are gorgeous! They cut nicely (no hanging chads), but the die-cuts are delicate. Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Maple Thanks stamp set.

I finished the card with some Like Magic sequins. The sequins look clear, but they also have a cool iridescence. They add just a little shine to a card, as you can see below:

I hope the card puts you in the mood for fall. :) Thanks again to Danielle for having me today! Have a great day!

Square Thoughts with August Guest Designer Wilna Furstenberg

Hi friends!  It's Friday and our August Guest Designer Wilna Furstenberg is sharing her first project for the month.  She's highlighting our Square Thoughts set this week, and we're loving how seamlessly she incorporates stamping/dies in her layouts.  Here's Wilna with all the details:

I am so happy and thankful that I got to work with the beautiful Neat & Tangled Square Thoughts stamp set. I picked this set because I love text and for the beauty of the simplicity of the words. As simple as that!

I embossed the speech bubble (square) and the little shapes with gold embossing powder and used the matching dies to “cut” them out.

For the background I stenciled with Light Molding Paste and painted over it with watercolors for a very simple background. I used one of my own illustrations as an embellishment.

Watch the 12 minute video where I chat about my process a little bit and where I show you how simple and easy a mixed media background is to make.

Next Friday, I will show you another page with the same idea but a different twist.

Thanks for watching!

Design Team Reunion: Taheerah Atchia

Hey everyone! It's Taheerah here and I'm so excited to be back on the Neat & Tangled blog to help celebrate their 5th birthday! The time I spent on the Design Team were some of my fondest and I am so proud of Danielle and all she has accomplished! Neat & Tangled will always be close to my heart and one of my favourite companies!

I wanted to make a card that captured the party cake vibe, and the sprinkles on the All The Sprinkles stamp were perfect for that!
I repeatedly stamped the sprinkles onto my card front in different colours to create a fun background! I was going for the look of white icing with loads of different coloured sprinkles on top - I'm guessing I hit the mark as I'm getting hungry just looking at it, ha!
The accompanying sentiment from the Hooray stamp set doesn't have to just be a companion! I let it take centre stage and love the finished look!
Thanks so much for getting the band back together to help you celebrate, Danielle! Happy Birthday Neat & Tangled - and here's to many more!

Design Team Reunion: Anna Kossakovskaya

Hello friends! Anna Kossakovskaya is here today with you and I am so excited to share with you this post today. I was honored to be invited to Neat & Tangled Reunion month, when all old design team members gather together again! I started to work with Neat & Tangled and Danielle three years ago - the summer of 2014. Three years have been passed! Time flies really fast! It was one of my first design teams of such level - to work with the manufacture! Isn't it a dream?

It was a great time working with amazing and unique style and stamp designs. And I am so happy to be back again, even only for one post! And I prepared two new cards for you today, that combine my favorite Neat & Tangled products.

For the first card I played with All The Sprinkles stamp set and multi layered resist technique. And for the sentiment I added 'Hooray' layered word I die cut with Hooray Word die. I started with embossing the stamp with the clear powder and then sponged the background with Worn Lipstick distress ink.

When the ink has dried I repeated the first two steps - the embossing with the clear powder and the sponging with the same ink color (but added more color this time). And then repeated it again the third time. And the last step was to add two strips of the vellum, the sentiment and few sequins from Like Magic Sequin Mix. I really adore this mix! The sequins can change the color a little, the real magic!

For the second card I used Hooray Word die again together with my most favorite N&T stamp set ever - Origami Map! I stamped the map on the white front panel and colored some segments with the pink and light blue colors. Then I die cut the 'hooray' word (the bottom layer) and added some foam. And on the top of the foam I adhered the layer with the stamped map and top black layer. So this word really pop!

Also I stamped the additional small sentiment and added again the sequins from Like Magic Sequin Mix. I like how they perfectly fits here.

Have a good day!

Design Team Reunion: Nina-Marie Trapani

Hello everyone! Nina-Marie here! I am so excited to be guesting today for Neat & Tangled’s 5th Birthday celebration! I cannot believe it’s been five years already since Danielle started one of my favorite stamp companies.

For their birthday, Neat & Tangled released a bunch of awesome new products, which I am using on my cards today. I wanted to use my Distress Inks to make a layered background behind a full-card shaker. Full-card shakers are a really fun card style; have you ever tried it?

The Distress Inks were fun to pair with the Balloons Duo stencil in making my background. I used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed for the colors. To make the background, I started by ink smooshing a layer of the colors onto watercolor paper. Then I took the same three colors and watercolored in the balloons of the stencil. Because the Distress Inks are translucent, you get a really unique blend of colors.

For my sentiment, I used the new Hooray stamp set. I wanted to make the “hooray” word stand out from the colorful background, so I triple heat embossed the sentiment for a cool, dimensional effect! It’s hard to capture on camera, but in real life the difference is noticeable.

Inside the shaker is filled with the Like Magic mix of of sequins, which are SO awesome. These are a unique sequin because they pick up the colors they are paired with. I love how gorgeous they look!

I hope you will check out the video below to see how this card came together! Thank you SO MUCH to Danielle from Neat & Tangled for letting me come back and guest for your 5th Birthday Celebration!! CONGRATS on this HUGE milestone!!!
And thank YOU for stopping by and visiting with me today! Enjoy your Tuesday!
